Who they are for

Who these webinars are for

The sessions are written for UK sole traders, residential and commercial landlords, and small limited companies that handle their own day to day records. If you keep your books in a spreadsheet, in Xero, in QuickBooks or in FreeAgent, the material applies. We focus on the rules HMRC actually enforces, the deadlines that matter, and the decisions a business owner has to make every quarter and at year-end.

In-house bookkeepers and finance managers also attend, particularly for the PAYE, VAT and Construction Industry Scheme sessions. You do not need to be a Golden Tree client to register. Anyone can join, ask questions, and keep the recording. About half of the people on any given session are running their own books and want a second opinion on how to apply a specific rule to their own situation.

What we cover

Topics we cover

Four areas come up most often. Each is rotated across the year, with refreshers when HMRC changes the rules or thresholds.

Making Tax Digital

Quarterly updates, the software that qualifies, who is in scope for ITSA from April 2026 and April 2027, and the deadline dates you need on the calendar before they arrive.

Year-end and self assessment

Limited company year-end timing, dividends versus salary for owner managers, sole-trader self assessment, payments on account, and how to avoid surprise tax bills in January and July.

Payroll and PAYE

RTI submissions, employer NIC, holiday pay calculations, statutory sick and parental leave, year-end P60s and P11D reporting for benefits in kind. Written for owners and in-house bookkeepers.

VAT and Construction Industry Scheme

The VAT registration threshold, MTD for VAT submissions, flat rate versus standard, and the CIS obligations that apply to subcontractors and to contractors who pay subcontractors in the building trade.

Format

What to expect

Sessions run live on Zoom. Duration is usually 30 to 60 minutes including a Q&A at the end. The structure is the same each time. Tanya, or whichever senior accountant is hosting, walks through the rules with a small set of slides, then opens the floor for questions.

Every session is recorded. The recording is sent to registrants the day after the live session, together with the slides and any HMRC reference links mentioned during the call. The recording is also published on this page once it has been processed. You can attend live, watch later, or both.

There is no upsell. We do not pitch software, and we do not run through a sales deck at the end. If you want to talk to us about your own books after the session, you can book a call separately, but nothing on the live session pushes you in that direction. Q&A is handled through the Zoom chat. Tanya answers as many questions as time allows. Anything we do not get to receives a written follow-up by email within the same week.

FAQ

Questions about the webinars

Are the webinars really free?

Yes. There is no cost and no purchase required afterwards. We run them to make the rules clearer and to introduce people to how Golden Tree works.

Do I need to be a Golden Tree client to register?

No. Anyone can register. About half of attendees are not clients.

What if I miss the live session?

Everyone who registers gets the recording the day after the live session. The recording is also published on this page once it is ready.

Will my email be used for marketing?

Only if you tick the marketing consent box at registration. Otherwise we use it once to send the joining details and the follow-up recording.

Who runs the webinars?

Tanya Vorontsov, the director of Golden Tree Accounting, runs most sessions. Other senior accountants on the team host specialist sessions on PAYE, VAT and CIS.

Can I ask questions in advance?

Yes. Reply to the registration confirmation email and we will add your question to the Q&A list.
